7TH GRADE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to develop and apply key concepts and 21-Century Skills in a collaborative Google environment, utilizing tools such as Google Apps - documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more, plus word prossessing, desktop publishing, and web 2.0 tools skills. Students will also be introduced to digital photo manipulation, video production, plus review Internet safety, ethical computer use, keyboarding skills, and more! Class content will be accessible online through Northland Pines' Schoology online learning management system.

EXPLORING COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSE
An introductory course for computer science. Exploring Computer Science will present an overview of computer science to students by focusing on both computer science content and computational practice. Assignments and instruction are designed to be both socially relevant and meaningful for diverse students. Students will learn to utilize a variety of tools and platforms and involves projects focused on the following topics: Human Computer Interaction, Problem Solving, Web Design, Programming, Computing and Data Analysis, Robotics. Expect to examine social and ethical issues in computing as well as careers.
AP COMPUTER SCIENCE PRINCIPLES
This is a college-board approved AP class that focuses on the fundamentals of computer science. Focus is on the many facets of computer science and how it relates to the world. Computer Science Principles is a course designed to prepare students who are new to computer science for the AP CS Principles exam. The course covers many topics including the Internet, Big Data and Privacy, and Programming and Algorithms.
WEB DESIGN 1 COURSE
This course provides students with a basic understanding of the web design process. Students will learn and understand how web pages and the Internet function as well as learn to create websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript editors. The course is a combination of online coursework as well as in-class discussion and planning. Motivated learners who are able to keep up with a rigorous pace are encouraged to take this class. An emphasis on coding skills and application is part of the class. No previous coding experience necessary.
WEB DESIGN 2 COURSE
This course will build upon the skills and knowledge base attained in Web Design I. Students will design a website for a local business, organization, or a teacher in order to gain practical experience working with a customer to produce a quality product. Mobile App creation and responsive design techniques for mobile and tablet users will be discussed. The course is project based and requires a strong attention to detail.
VIDEO PRODUCTION COURSE
This course provides students with an opportunity to learn multiple facets within mass communication and video production such as film editing, sound editing, graphic overlays, conducting interviews, script writing, equipment management, acting, directing, and video creation/promotion through YouTube. Focus will be placed on participating in all aspects of video production and projects will reflect an understanding of planning and preparing film for an audience.
