WHAT DOES THE PTSO DO FOR YOU?
The PTSO (Parent, Teacher, Student Organization) is an organization at Northland Pines Middle School that raises funds to support many projects, events and supplies for the middle school, that otherwise students and staff would go without. Here are just some of what the PTSA has done and the PTSO will continue to do.
• Sponsor dances with open gym night that are FREE for all middle school PTSO members.
• Healthy snacks for students on WKCE test days and After School Homework Center.
• Extra classroom supplies such as art supplies, microscopes, bulletin board, band equipment and shirts, bee equipment, and classroom books.
• Teacher appreciation luncheon. The PTSO will supply the teachers with a wonderful themed lunch during Teacher Appreciation Week.
• Help support the 8th grade class trip and end of the year reception.
• Provide transportation for the Middle School Ski Trip.
• Provide two $500 scholarships to two NPHS graduating seniors, who have been a PTSO member in the middle school.
• Provide money for supplies to create Passion Projects
• PTSO student member end-of-the-year activity at Kartway. This event is FREE for all middle school PTSO members.
WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR THE PTSO?
The PTSO is run strictly by volunteers and we are always looking for more hands to help. As families move through the school system, out of the middle school and into the high school, we need parents and students coming in from the elementary schools to take an interest in helping out.
Here are some ways you can take part and help this wonderful organization remain so successful.
• Become a member, by signing up as a family or as a middle school student/s in the office.
The membership is $10.00 for Family Membership (includes parent(s) and students) or $5.00 for Student only membership per year. Also, if you have been a member in the past, it’s not too late to join. We are still recruiting more members to reach our mark each year.
• Become a volunteer. We are always looking for some helping hands with various events and volunteers to bring in baked goods for a variety of PTSO sponsored events.
• Attend the PTSO meetings; they are usually the third Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at the Middle School.
• Save those Box Tops for Education. Each year the middle school alone collects over $500.00. That’s a lot of cereal and Kleenex. This is an easy way to help out because the Box Tops are now on many more items..
• GOT CAPS? Save milk caps or certificates from bags of milk from Kwik Trip.
• Save your printer cartridges for recycling. Send them to school.
• Target charge card. List NPMS as the receiving school, and we get a percentage of what you spend.
• Chaperone at one of our dances.
