Gretchen Smart-Hall, Principal
Dear Eagle River Elementary Families, I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Principal of Eagle River Elementary. This is my eighteenth year in education. My journey in education has been diverse, encompassing roles in various school districts. Starting as a paraprofessional, advancing to a classroom teacher, and later assuming the role of an instructional coach, I have had the opportunity to grow and learn. Over the past seven years as a member of the Northland Pines School District, I have been deeply grateful for the caring and overwhelming support of the Eagle River community. Recently, I had the honor of serving as the Director of Teaching and Learning at Pines. Now, I am eager to continue my educational journey with all of you here at Eagle River Elementary. Joining me is our new Assistant Principal, Brooke Johnson, who brings a variety of experience from her roles as a paraprofessional, classroom teacher and interventionist. This past year, she served as a K-6 instructional coach within the Northland Pines School District. Brooke is enthusiastic about continuing to serve the Pines community in her new position at ERES. Together, we are committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and joyful learning environment where every child can thrive. Our school is poised for an exciting upcoming year, filled with innovative programs and initiatives designed to bring learning back to life. We are particularly focused on enhancing our science-based literacy approach, which will enrich our curriculum and elevate the educational experience for all students. This initiative underscores our commitment to delivering high quality reading instruction to every learner. Additionally, we are dedicated to fostering a strong Multi-Level System of Support that includes data-driven tiered intervention and enrichment activities for both academic and behavior supports. This allows differentiated learning to thrive within our classrooms. Additionally, we are expanding our co-teaching efforts, particularly in Special Education and Title I, to provide enhanced support to every student. As we embark on this new school year, filled with promise and opportunities, I encourage you to reach out with any questions, ideas, or concerns. My door is always open, and am here to support you and your child in every way possible. I can be reached by email at gsmarthall@npsd.k12.wi.us or at 715-479-6471. Here's to a wonderful year of growth, discovery, and success at Eagle River Elementary! Warm regards, Gretchen Hall Principal, Eagle River Elementary
