The Pines Community Wellness Center offers a wide variety of classes geared toward the active older adult.
The Total Body Senior class is for any age and any gender that needs challenging strength training, endurance, stability and flexibility, coordination and no impact cardio. Instructor for this class is Kevin Schweer and Sandy LeBiedz. This is a class for active, experienced adults.
The Pines Community Wellness Center also offers the Strong Bodies Program, a 10-week exercise program for middle-aged and older men and women. The Strong Bodies program has become a very popular class. An optional 30-minute self instructed warm up can be done before the start of each class.
The series is led on Mondays and Wednesdays by Tobi Johannsen who has been trained in the Strong Women / Strong Bodies program. The Vilas County Public Health Department is working in conjunction with the Pines Community Wellness Center to offer this program to the community. Each class includes progressive weight training, flexibility and balance. The cost of the program is $60.00 for the 10-week session.
As always, anyone may attend their first class for free to see if they enjoy the class.
Free Senior Day is the third Wednesday of every month for those individuals ages 62 and older (does not include classes).
There are also reduced membership rates for senior citizens as follows:
