Beginner Yoga Basics

Instructor: Lynn Upthagrove | Location: Evercise Room

Intro to yoga for the curious. We will build each week on the lessons learned the prior week. Week one includes a What is Yoga discussion, a complete tutorial on 4 poses and a Q & A session. Each week will build on the one before with an intro to a new yoga subject, a review of these poses learned the prior week. The final class we combine all the poses learned together into a flow class. At the completion of the couse, participants can confidently enroll in any yoga course. 

CIRCUIT BREAKER

Instructors: Karen Cropsey | Location: Exercise Room
Circuit training is the "Musical Chairs" of the exercise world. Move from one exercise to the next untilt he circuit is complete. Perform multiple circuits throughout the class. A mix of cardio, strength, functional movement, plyometrics, and balance exercises. Expect to get your heart rate raised and to build muscle and endurance. You can adapt any exercise to your current level of fitness. Never be bored with this always changing Circuit Breaker class! 

Chair Yoga

A chair-based Yoga class where the poses are modified to address limited flexibility and balance issues.  Our focus is to improve flexibility, ease of movement, strength, balance, and reduce stress.  Our class is open and supportive of all levels of ability.

Chair Yoga Strength

Instructor: Lynn Upthagrove | Location: Exercise Room

This program is designed for those who have difficulty getting up and down from the floor, and tend to shy away from traditional yoga. All our poses will be standing or sitting and will incorporate the use of light weights throughout the session. This class has a specific focus towards beginners but is a great addition to a weekly program for yogis of all levels. 

HIIT/X-fit

Instructor:  Chad Kirschbaum, Kari Kirschbaum | Location:  Exercise Room
HIIT meets X-Fit.  Are you tired of traditional weight training?  Mix it up with high intensity cross training!  Every class is different, with a mix of cardio, weight training and gymnastics movements to help you build strength, endurance and flexibility.  We will work with barbells, dumbbells and kettlebells, as well as body-weight movements in a variety of workout formats.  You will learn new skills and hone old ones in an atmosphere that is both encouraging and challenging. Co-Ed. Instructor is a CrossFit enthusiast/CrossFit level 1 trainer (CF-L1).

This class involves a series of controlled, precise, isolated movements, building strength while activating muscles throughout the body. With each pilates sequence, specific muscles are targeted focusing heavily on the core. Energizing music will motivate, make it fun and keep you coming back! All exercises are performed on a mat.

This class provides a gentle stretching workout to improve flexibility, balance and strength. Mats, yoga blocks, hand weights, exercise balls and any other equipment will be provided by the Pines Community Wellness Center. 

Personal Training

Our Personal Trainer is Certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, has a Tactical Strength and Conditioning Certification, as well as CPR and First Aid. Our facility has a wide range of cardio and strength training equipment. Personal Training Staff can work with you to: familiarize you with gym and weightlifting equipment, provide physical and mental guidance in a gym setting, monitor progress, emphasize proper form to prevent injury and work with or coordinate with your customized Physical Therapy plan.

Feel the beat, move your feet, drum to the rhythm. Cardio workout for all ages with music from all decades.  All levels are welcome.

Total Body Senior X (TBS-X)

Yin/Yang Yoga

Balance effort and ease as we begin with basic yoga postures, actively developing muscle strength, stamina and flexibility -YANG. The second slower paced half, we hold postures longer, working deep connective tissue creating space in the joints-YIN. This class is suitable for those who practice occasionally and those with an established practice.

Yoga For Lifelong Vitality

Yoga for Lifelong Vitality is a yoga program that is appropriate for all levels. The foundations of Yoga will be taught and the class will help build a quiet and clear sense of internal energy, allowing you to move through your daily life with purpose, ease and confidence. 

STRONG BODIES 10-WEEK PROGRAM

Days/Times: Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Location: Exercise Room
The Strong Bodies Program is for all ages of men and women.  It is based upon extensive scientific research and is a series of exercises performed repeatedly over a period of at least 10 weeks.  Each session includes easy to learn exercises with progressive weight training, flexibility, and balance activities.  People with health concerns such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, obesity, and back pain often benefit the most from this program.  All registration forms & program payments are due prior to the first session.  This is not a drop-in class and 10 week attendance is expected, but not required to hold your spot.  PCWC membership is not required. You also get 30 minutes prior to the session time to warm up on the exercise machines or indoor track included in your program registration.
